Jack Russels are trainable and able to perform some impressive tricks. They have appeared on
television and in the movies. However, if you do not show authority towards your Jack Russell
puppy, you will have difficulty training them. Be sure to socialize them. They like to chase and
explore. Be careful not to let them off their leash unless they are very well trained. Jack Russells
climb, which means they can climb over a fence and they also jump. A Jack that stands 12 inches
high can easily jump five feet! Jack Russell Terriers who are mentally
stable, with all of their canine instincts met, will not display negative behaviors. Those negative behaviors are not traits of the Jack Russell, but rather human brought on
behaviors, such as a lack of mental and physical stimulation.
